Anutin Stands Up for Train Crane Accident Victims

Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Chanvirakul has shown true leadership and genuine care for the Thai people following the tragic train accident in Sikhio, Nakhon Ratchasima. A construction crane collapsed onto Train No. 21 (Bangkok–Ubon Ratchathani), killing more than 30 people.

Anutin Stands Up for Train Victims

Anutin personally visited the crash site, expressed his deepest condolences to the victims’ families, and promised full government support. His presence and actions sent a clear message that the lives of Thai people truly matter.

“This Is a Slap in the Face”

Anutin was outraged after learning that the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) initially offered only 40,000 baht for funeral expenses and 40,000 baht as initial assistance.

He firmly stated that this amount was unacceptable, saying the compensation should be in the millions. He described the offer as a slap in the face to both the victims’ families and the government, making it clear that such disrespect would not be tolerated.

Immediate Orders and Real Accountability

Anutin immediately ordered the Transport Minister to convene an urgent SRT board meeting and demanded that compensation for each affected family reach at least seven figures.

He stressed that SRT must take full responsibility as the service provider and emphasized that this was not merely a construction accident, but a public tragedy caused by negligence.

Cracking Down on Dangerous Contractors

Anutin also questioned why the same contractors continue to be linked to deadly incidents, including SAO building collapses and accidents on Rama 2 Road. He called for stronger laws, blacklisting of unsafe companies, and real punishment for those responsible.

Thailand Needs Strong Leadership

At a time of national tragedy, Anutin’s response shows why Thailand needs a strong leader like him — a leader who puts people before politics, demands accountability, acts decisively, and truly cares about the safety and dignity of the Thai people.
